1967 Honda P50 Winged Wheel 50cc Moped (Little Honda P25) to be auctioned from 18th November 2016

This Honda is due to be auctioned on Ebay starting from the 18th November 2016.

The Honda P50 was also known as the Little Honda P25 in some markets. Production lasted for 2 years from 1966 to 1968 so good examples are very hard to come by. The P50 E earns a place in history as being the last motor-wheel designed by Honda and possibly by any other large manufacturer.

Features:

• A step-through frame made from steel pressings, front suspension, plastic fenders and chain guard.
• The fuel tank is located above the rear fender, and the key distinguishing feature of the design is the 50cc engine being located at the extreme lower left rear of the frame, with all of the driveline components housed within the large hub of the rear wheel.
• The engine is also 4-stroke, which is unusual as almost all pedal-equipped mopeds used simpler 2-strokes. Soichiro Honda disliked the sharp noise of 2-strokes The 4-stroke does not require oil to be mixed with the petrol/gasoline at every fill-up.

Good Points:

• This bike has undergone quite a bit of restoration and would need very little else to fully complete the restoration.
• The bike has had a full respray in an appealing Honda Green colour match.
• The plastics are all in very good condition.
• The moped starts and runs well.
• The interesting exhaust can modification sounds okay and does not look out of place.
• Horn, lights, and braking controls are all in working condition.
• The saddle does not have the Honda logo so it must have been recovered at some time, but a good job has been done.
• The 50cc four stroke engine pulls as expected with the automatic clutch and the speedometer gives a smooth reading of the speed.
• The bike has been fitted with new Michelin tyres by the previous owner and the 'hairs' are still there.
• This model is an E registration, which was the year fewer bikes were registered with an 'E' plate.

Points to Note:

• There is no V5c so this will need to be applied for if you wish to use the bike on the road. It as quite common for log books to go missing and as this was part of a collection not going on the road the log book was not applied for.
• There is a white side panel missing (many were removed and so it is not too noticeable).
• The light is missing the front lens

This is a Honda P50 which is about 99% complete and has undergone some restoration, in good running order with new tyres and exhaust system.
