1983 Velo Solex Motobecane based on the classic 1960's - 1970's design.
From January 1975 although under the control of Renault-Motobecane the 3800 sold were identical to the standard "Solex". Manufacturing was transferred to Macon in France.
Velo Solex that were labelled Motobecane such as this although a bit newer are still also quite rare. The simplicity of being made on the original design means most parts are still available making them a very easy project to restore or keep running on the road.
This bike came from a collection in a barn in the South of France and was dry stored for many years.
- - It has a set of new union pedals and cotters pins on the cranks
- - Still in its original Patina keep as is or respray it should you wish.
- - I have had the moped running it requiring very little effort to get going and it pulled me very well around click here for video
- - Engine number 45821xx and frame 38718xx. This dates the bike as circa 1983, not 1966 as incorrectly mentioned in the video.
- - The wheels are solid, with some pitting in place, and the chrome on handlebars reasonable for age. The bell does work!
- - Nova certificate so easy to Uk register with this and the bill of sale. I could apply for a V5 registration, but it woud be better the new owner does it rather than adding another owner. The Clubs which have low annual membership rates of around £15 can help with the process, should you wish to register it for the road.

It sounds confusing, but if you buy from Classic Moped Spares the price includes 20% vat. For example on £750, £125 of this will be paid to HMRC, meaning the equivalent price is £625. This will make registering easier than if you had to pay duty seperately.
Delivery/CollectionI
You will need to collect or arrange a courier at your cost. If you pay for it then you can reserve it, and will keep for 2-3 weeks after payment. price does not include delivery for £5, and many companies will deliver this type of vehicle very reasonably, and it also should fit in most cars with the rear seats down.
