I believe these were for the UK market and were never fitted as are still in their plastic packaging. Front number plates (or bacon slicers as they were known due to what could happen if you went over the front), were commonly fitted on machines prior to 1970. They are an optional extra on motorcycles

They were fitted where two holes were drilled into the front mudguard. They would have been manufactured by Mobylette as specials and are not listed in any of the dealer reference manuals that I have.
