1965 Motobecane, Mobylette AV48 Moped for Restoration For Sale (Rare Model with legshields) NOW SOLD

An extremely appealing rare 1965 Motobecane Mobylette AV48 with an English registration number plate, which means it would have been sold new in England many years ago.

You do not see as many of the Av48's about as some of the other more common Mobylette models so this is a nice stylish rare classic to have in a collection.

This moped was in the collection of Moped Malc which was filmed in 2016 by Channel 4's Find It Fix it Flog along with motocycle enthusiast and character 'Henry Cole'. 

Highlights.

- No V5 document so will need applying for. Quite common for something this old for it to be lost or not on the DVLA database after the change in the 80's. There is a tax disc on the bike which will help with this process.

- The speedometer reads just over 1100, however not sure that is geniuine.

- The engine is currently seized so will need freeing up. There are plenty of techinques to do this and now that new Mobylette barrels, pistons and heads are available it is not the concern it used to be years ago.

- Bike has been dry stored

- There is some surface rust as would be expected with a moped of 55 years old

- This bike comes complete with original metal legshields and side panels which is rather unusual.

Summary

- Great little restoration project. Anyone serious collectors will know what the bike is worth in terms of parts and restored. Much to good to break it would be great to see it restored. Lots of parts are available from Classic Moped Spares to help make this run again.

- This is a Private Sale due to health reasons.
