A customer recently had a problem where he needed to replace the Fuel Tank on his Velo Solex 2200 model as it was beyond repair.

• The Velo Solex 2200 had a metal tank compared to the later 3800 models. It would seem obvious to replace the 2200 fuel tank with the 3800 one however there are some differences in the way the fuel systems are connected up.
• To replace the Velo Solex 2200 Fuel Tank you will also need to replace the two pipes that connect to the fuel pump and you will also need to replace the 2200 fuel pump with the 3800 fuel pump. After this has been done you should be good to go.
• The replacement plastic tanks while not being as sturdy as a metal tank will ensure that you do not get rust particles in the fuel system and so are less likely to experience fuel pumping issues.

The well renowned Motorcycle Enthusiast Extraordinaire Henry Cole, Simon O'Brien and the team made a visit to Moped Malc to see some Mopeds from the Sixties and Seveties in January 2017.

It was great to see Henry and Simon so excited over these small machines, which included a Raleigh Runabout, Various Mobylettes, and Velo Solex to name just a few. 

Filming was for the Find It, Fix It , Flog It program and more information will be available when the program airing date is known.

We have been helping with parts for some years for restorations and I do hope that this latest visit to Moped Malc from Channel 4, may help a few more people get their Classic Mopeds up and running, not to mention also raising the profile for everyone in the Uk interested in these machine be it an individual, club, bike or parts supplier. Just in New for January 2017 we now have available spokes and nipples for different mopeds. 

The spokes and nipples that we do are made exclusively to fit the rims that we have had specially made. The spokes are a stronger and thicker guage that the originals not that we have all got a bit heavier over the years!

We have started by advertising spokes and nipples for the Raleigh RM6 Runabout Moped  and I am sure that more will follow.

Please do not be afraid to ask if you need spokes and nipples for your model, though these are designed to be compatible with the rims that we have made so may not be suitable with other manufactured rims.
