We do not knowingly supply parts to Individuals or Moped Clubs enagaging in unsafe practices. We may at our discretion refuse to supply anyone individual or group. 

Our aim is to supply parts for restoring classic vehicles. We have been made aware of horror stories with Customers telling us of moped engines ruined by unsafe modifications and even machines with bent frames knowingly sold. To us the risk is too great and it is our right to refuse to do anything we feel uncomfortable with. Even the professionals can get it wrong for example Robert Dunlop was killed on a bike in 2009 that was suspected to have had a seized engine. 

The Department of Transport advice regarding 70cc kits is:

I draw your attention to Regulation 100 of the Road Vehicles (Construction and Use) Regulations 1986 as amended. This regulation states the following:  No motor vehicle (or trailer) shall be used for any purpose for which it is so unsuitable as to cause or be likely to cause danger or nuisance to any

What a great Christmas present to uwrap for 2017!

This New Engine Straight out of the Box is being tested!

• The engine was fitted to a 1970 Raleigh Runabout Moped. This is the first time in 50 years since the Raleigh Runabout was introduced that a new replacement engine has been succesfully fitted and tested making it an extremely proud moment for myself Moped Malc at Classic Moped Spares.
• We have been supplying parts to keep the older engines running for many years, but sometimes it may not be possible to salvage an engine that has been outside in poor conditions. These new engine also offer more power and smoother electronic ignition performance.

Fitting:

• Fitting is not straight forward and we are currently trying to compile a quick guide to make this process easy for you
• The engine has electronic ignition and first impressions are that it was much more powerful that the original. It ran very smoothly and we have done a quick video.

Help on Restoring VeloSolex Mopeds

Sometimes it is difficult to find the right advice on how to fix your moped.

Fortunately the Velo Solex is among one of the easier ones to do, as there are a good supply of parts and the engine position means you can access it easily. 

A good place to start is with where to find the right information. The VeloSolex Uk Forum has lots of tips and advice and experience from felllow enthusiasts fixing and restoring their machines

While the content may not always be right, generally their is someone to point you in the right direction.

They have also kindly allowed us to advertise as one of the Main Solex Dealers for parts.

Normally I find the best advice is to:-

1. Get a Manual (free on the forum)

2. Find a reliable parts supplier such as Classic Moped Spares or other. We dont have everything, but we try to stock a good range of quality parts.

3. If someone has done it before see how they have done

4. Order what you need, take your time and enjoy the final

The 25th September 2017 has finally arrived and myself Moped Malc has made it on to the television. I forgot how cold the day was filming until  saw the show!

The well renowned Motorcycle Enthusiast Extraordinaire Henry Cole, Simon O'Brien and the team made a visit to Moped Malc to see some Mopeds from the Sixties and Seveties in January 2017.

It was great to see Henry and Simon so excited over finding these small machines, which included a Raleigh Runabout, Various Mobylettes, and Velo Solex to name just a few. 

We have been helping with parts for some years for restorations and I do hope that this latest visit to Moped Malc from Channel 4, may help a few more people get their Classic Mopeds up and running, not to mention also raising the profile for everyone in the Uk interested in these machine be it an individual, club, bike or parts supplier.
